Beats her friends with Sticks

So, two weeks today me and the amazing Sarah are going on la holiday to Minehead which is supposedly near Stonehenge. Where we plan to meet the Doctor and travel the universe for a while.

The doodle above is based on a story Sarah told me, about how the last time she went on holiday with a friend they ended up hitting eachother with sticks once they got bored of each other. Needless to say she'll probably end up beating ME with a stick. She's abusive!

A Wednesday

It's been a very un-botheredy  mood of a day for me today, in the I really can't be bothered with anything in general, including drawing so I'll upload another sketchbook piece (which is dangerous because I'll actually have to start doing new work soon)
So, with this I was just messing around with ink as per usual.

Note; her boobs are different sizes.

A day of Nothing

Yet another rare occurrence of a digital drawing for you today, I keep meaning to actually give digital work a proper go but it's so darn boring, but it's the 'big thing' for artists and illustrators at the moment so I may as well try and keep up.
Anyway, this picture was heavily influenced by the film 'Black Swan' which is a truly beautiful film and I suggest you go and watch it right now.

Music Mondays!

Two posts, in one day!? Madness I tells ya, must be the heat.
Anyway, in conjunction with fan-art friday and the sunday comics, I bring you MUSIC MONDAY!

Music mondays will feature so music related art, most likely in honour of some band/musician I like and we will open with.

Katy Perry.
I think I first heard Katy Perry when my lovely friend Sarah (mentioned elsewhere) played me the song 'If You Can Afford Me' and loved it, then with the advent of everyones favourite pseudo-lesbian song 'I Kissed a Girl' I was smitten, and it's true everyone loves Katy Perry.

Also, I'm seeing her live, at the Manchester M.E.N on HALLOWEEN! EEEE!

Oh Sunny Days

Gah it was lovely and warm today so me and my anti-social buds went and sat at a reservoir for a few hours and pretty much did nothing (except ruin my white shoes with dirt) and thus I'll post this weather themed picture as England sun doesn't last long at it's probably going to rain in like, a minute!
Sorry fr the crappy quality, it was a photo from my sketch book and I've lost my good scanned version.

Sunday Comics

Hooray for themed days of the week, welcom to the Sunday Comics! The one you see above (if there is indeed someone reading this, doubtful but whatever) the very first 'Sophie!' comic based on the various mis-interpretations made by my friend Sophie who is amongst my all time favourite people ever and comes out with some truly legendary quotes.
So starting this Sunday I shall upload a new comic, maybe another 'Sophie' or one of the others I have planned, stay tuned.

The One-Weekiversary

WELL! I've kept this up for a whole week starting today,  A WHOLE WEEK!
The next check-point is 1 month, although I'm starting to wonder how to update this while I'm on holiday with my lovely Sarah. She has phone internet so I may borrow that and post pictures from it (if possible) we're going 'down south' which isn't difficult to do when you live in the North.
Anyway, I couldn't think of a theme for Saturday (but have for tomorrow my lovelies) so instead, I'll give you a drawing I did of Sarah (mentioned earlier)
She's much prettier in real life, the background contains various in-jokes she'll understand NOT THAT SHE READS THIS WHICH SHE SHOULD! She won't start her own blog either, because she smells.

Metric (Fan-Art-Friday)

So basically, every Friday from now on I'm going to post fan-art. Something I don't do often do for various snobby reasons. That changes, today as a matter of fact.
So this isn't a brilliant piece of fan-art but I'll give you something better later today (my scanner is upstairs with the pictures I was originally going to give you)
It's a piece for the band Metric ( I think they're Canadian but they might be American) and like a lot of people I only knew about them after they were featured in the Scott Pilgrim film and then went on to buy their album 'Fantasies' which is lovely and has butterflies on the discs (butterflies are they only bugs I don't hate) and fell in love with them. Go to their website, go on go on go on; METRIC!

On the Road to Oz

So today's sort of the final day of the college year, which was a good excuse as any to actually go in. It was pretty much a waste of time, we watched video that we filmed in media studies (I may upload the link if it's been put on YouTube but my video wasn't that good so it probably didn't get uploaded) Also, in about three hours(ish) there's some end of year art show on at college. Which I am going to although my work isn't IN the show because lowly first years are unloved.

As such, I'll post some of my college-work on here, take that college.  Anyway, this was my final piece from my first unit in Graphics which had some ridiculously obscure theme like 'Word and Image' which is sort of the basics of Graphics but whatever. In some deluded gay madness I decided to theme my project around the Wizard of Oz, being a fan of the film (and Wicked, like every gay man out there)

The piece was a sort of abstract bookish type thing and there were 4 pages, each on a square folded into triangular quarters with each page having it's own illustrations done in watercolours, and the narrative was basically a commentary on my lack of trust and they way I question peoples motives whilst drawing parallels with Dorothy's journey though Oz.

The narrative concludes with the knowledge that I accept that I don't trust and that I willingly choose not to. Overall the illustrations were kind of sloppy as after doing nothing but Oz related things for 7 month, it got really, really repetitive. A boy can only draw so many floating Wizard heads. I'll upload some photos of my other final pieces when I get a chance (and when I can sneak into the store cupboard to actually take some photos of course)

Corey Turner, in Ink

So, this was an obligatory self-portrait I inked, trying to draw parallels to the one I did of Lady Gaga.
I wouldn't say this is an accurate portrait in the least, my scanners thinned me out the image out and it was already too narrow to begin with, I'm thinking of doing a whole bunch of these and once my gum paste arrives so I can stretch paper again I'll make more, so, non-existent readers, LOOK FORWARD TO IT!

Curly Girl

Decided to post something digital today, I don't do much digital work because I get bored with it really quickly because it isn't as fun as working with physical media although I would love to be able to produce better stuff digitally I really can't be bothered with it usually

Inky goodness

Slow day today, slept for over 14 hours which is quite a feat, for normal people anyway.
Spent my last college project producing portraits so thought I may as well post one on here, it's of Lady Gaga from the Alejandro cover, minus the big ass crow, I don't like crows

The First Post

So here it is, my new Blog where I'm going to post various drawings and paintings I do. Many will probably be alongside rants etc, but we'll wait and see.
My name is Corey Turner, I've just turned 18 and I'm going to try and update as often as possible, maybe even once a day if I can, my next post will be better.

About the picture above, over the past few months I've been using inks quite a bit in my my personal and college work and have fallen in love with them (hence the name of my blog) and I've been trying to settle on how to apply fleshy tones (they dont make flesh colourse ink in the brand I like (or maybe at all)) and I've started applying a blue under-layer  which includes shade and tones and then using 'Burnt Sienna' wash over that and it's been kind of effective, improvement is needed admittedly.
